This past Saturday, I went to the cutest bridal shower for my friend, Crisi (the one who's having the beach wedding that I'm stressing over what to wear). Above is what I wore to the event, which also happens to be one of my favorite vintage dresses. I've had it for years and the last time I wore it was to a birthday dinner where I clumsily splattered borscht on the chest and had it in my ' to take to the cleaners' basket. The thing is though, that 'take to the cleaners' basket has had stuff in it for over 2 years, so it probably wouldn't have made it's way there anytime soon. For some reason, I'm really lazy when it comes to taking/picking up my dry cleaning. However, the little purple specks that were left over from the borscht had magically disappeared and my favorite vintage dress was once again stain free and completely wearable. What a fabulous surprise that was!

The MouseVox eBay shop is stocked full this week with a plethora of killer S/S 09 vintage wares! What's pictured above isn't even half of what's up for grabs. All sizes, XS-XL, are available and every item has the option to 'buy it now', for those of you who don't want to wait on auctions. Be sure to stop by the shop, see what's new and treat yourself to something fabulous!

By no means a new trend, the romper is fastly becoming something that I finally am getting the itch to embrace. Around this time last year, I was chatting with one of my local customers when she stopped by the studio to pick up her latest purchases and we both agreed that the romper was something that we thought to be totally adorable, but for some reason didn't have the urge to personally sport. My mind has since changed drastically, as I am now not only intrigued by rompers/onesies/playsuits, but am seriously on the hunt to find a few for myself by the time Summer comes around - preferably vintage, of course. I am particularly fond of the vintage terrycloth bicycle romper (pictured above) - I've been thinking lately just how perfect an alternative the romper is to my usual attire of dresses everyday on days where I'm riding my bike around. Unfortunately, it's a bit too roomy in the chest area for me. Hopefully someone who is equally as romper obsessed as I will be able to grab it up. And the rose print jumper in the upper left corner is up for grabs right now in my shop - I'm kind of kicking myself over letting it go, now that I think of it!

S/S 09 is in full effect for MouseVox with auctions ending tonight & Thursday. Be sure to peek in at the shop, place your bids or use the 'buy it now' option to grab something up quickly before someone else does!

It seems as though that, for the past 5 years, more and more of my friends are getting married and having weddings. I guess that's just par for the course for those of us in our late 20's / early 30's and who am I to object - I love a fabulous wedding and I'm always up for an excuse to get my fancy on. This year, one of my favorite couples are tying the knot and not only is it going to be fabulous, but they're saying their 'I do's' in island paradise and have invited they're closest friends to share the moment. Of course, my first reaction was sincere happiness for these two beautiful friends (Go Crisi & Jason!), but now that the initial excitment of the unity itself has become something I'm getting used to, I'm racking my brain with the idea of, "What to wear to the beach wedding."
The 'beach wedding weekend' palette above is basically just a general idea of some things I'd like to bring for my island get-away. Early June off the Georgia coast is surely going to be hot & humid and, as southern as my current lifestyle is, I really can't imagaine having too much of myself covered up and still be comfortable. The strapless frock above from Anthropologie is pretty much everything I'll be looking for in my own dress - a lightweight cotton blend with a cute print and pretty details that will still give my skin enough room to breathe without perspiring all over my date. Of course, I'll probably either opt for something vintage or make my own. Open toed shoes are a must and I'll probably choose to wear something pretty in my hair rather than any jewelry. We'll be hitting the beach while there as well, so a new swimsuit is high on my list of wedding weekend desirables, as well as a cute cover up that I can throw on at night if we go out for beachy cocktails (a far stretch from my red wine or Maker's Mark & coke staples, but it just seems like you should try something fruity and frozen at the beach).
With 3 months 'til the date, I'm hoping I'll be able to come up with a few cute pieces and still be able to pack light. I've been perusing Etsy & eBay for vintage pieces that suit my taste and my needs, but haven't found anything yet. My fingers are crossed, though!

Wowee! It's been FOREVER since I've updated this blog. The past two weeks have been filled with birthday parties, dance parties, new friends, old friends, ROLLERSKATING!, extreme sewing sessions, late night jam sessions (turns out, I'm a decent drummer) and work, work, work! I wouldn't even know where in the world to start with the details on any of the past 2 week's activities - so much has happened. It's apparent that I'm getting ready to have a serious case of Spring fever, though!
And speaking of Spring - the MouseVox eBay shop is stocked this week with so many seriously adorable goodies to get you started on your vintage Spring/Summer wardrobe (only a small few of which are pictured above)! Be sure to take a peek & see what's new. All of our auctions also have the option to 'buy it now' and they've been going fast, fast, fast! We encourage you to take advantage of this option so you don't miss out!
I'm also in the process of updating the Etsy shop with a round of vintage lovelies as well, so expect to see new items there later tonight - just wanted to take a quick break to update the blog before time slipped away from me again!
Enjoy your weekends!
