SNEAK PEEK: CUTEST UPDATE EVER!

>> Thursday, July 30, 2009

I know that I often refer to each week's update as the "cutest update ever", but seriously ladies - this week's ebay treats are so totally adorable that they definitely have raised my own personal bar of cuteness. Pictured above is just a peek at what's to come.

THE LAST SITTING

>> Tuesday, July 28, 2009

I've never really been a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and it's not for any specific reason, just that I don't know much about her life other than it was cut tragically short and she had a trist with JFK. I am, however, a big fan of Bert Stern and just love these images from The Last Sitting exhibition - a collection of 2,500 photographs taken of Marilyn Monroe over a three day period, six weeks before her death, taken for Vogue. The first time I familiarized myself with his work was after seeing the picture on the left in the book, 100 Years of Vogue Magazine (which I own and should really share some scans here one day). I love this image so much, in fact, that I have a framed copy proudly displayed in my office.

In MouseVox related news - some seriously exciting things are going on right now in my world that I'll be able to divulge super soon. The past few days have really been so busy that I haven't had a lot of time to devote to the store, but there will be new goodies coming to the eBay store on Thursday and more coming to the Etsy shop on Friday (they're good ones too, so get ready to get excited!).

NEW IN THE ETSY SHOP!

>> Friday, July 24, 2009

I just finished listing a batch of vintage goodies in the Etsy shop, so be sure to take a peek & check 'em out!

I also wanted to thank everyone for their super sweet comments/emails. While I've been super busy and haven't been able to respond properly to each and every one of you, I still appreciate it so much!

Now, it's time to start the weekend off right with a bubble bath, a glass of pinot noir, a pedicure and tv on dvd - my typical end of week ritual since I usually end up having a little too much fun on Thursday nights with my friends, watching my boy play bass (this little mouse had a teeny bit too much whiskey last night!).

DAILY WARES - LAZY SUMMER

>> Thursday, July 23, 2009

Sundress: 1970's Vintage by Laura Ashley
Sandals: 1970's Vintage
Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters

Yesterday was the perfect lazy Summer day - sleeping in 'til noon after staying up too late, drinking lots of coffee, baking cupcakes, brats on the grill & scarey movies in bed. While taking a day off in the middle of the week after just having an entire week off from working may not have been the most responsible decision, this is exactly what I needed to re-charge after so many weeks straight of working & travelling.

Today I photographed a batch of vintage goodies that will be coming to the MouseVox Etsy Shop tomorrow night. After that, it's time to catch up on my sewing and get a bunch of dresses pressed and ready to photograph tomorrow for eBay. There are also several auctions ending tomorrow night in the eBay shop. I'm hoping to get back into my normal Mondays/Thursdays listing routine next week, but we'll see how the rest of this week of playing catch up goes.

HOME FROM THE ROAD!

>> Monday, July 20, 2009

Hello, hello! I returned home from my latest road trip adventure late last Wednesday night/early Thursday morning and, let me tell you, it was a blast! We started off with a 10 hour drive straight to Orlando, FL where we met up with a friend and her sister and just chilled for the night, drank wine and swam in their saltwater pool. In the morning, I reuinted with my honey, had a delicious lunch at the White Wolf Cafe and then checked into our hotel room before he had to head off for soundcheck, at which point I napped before showtime. The show was a blast and I made new friends (Amanda & Tommy - you are SO AWESOME!) that came to Nashville and hung out with us this weekend! On Sunday, we drove up to Jacksonville Beach (where the picture above was taken) for 2 days and stayed at this adorable little hotel called The Seawalk. I got some seriously needed beach time in, ate lots of fresh seafood and went for evening walks on the beach with the boy. Come Monday, it was off to Asheville, NC for some time in the mountains and another show. We left Asheville just as quickly as we came into it and headed back toward Tennessee with a stop in Knoxville before finally making it home around 7AM Thursday morning. Needless to say, I was exhausted, but so, so happy to have my love back home.

Today has really been the first day that reality has hit and I've gotten back to seriously working. All packages are now caught up and on their way and a batch of new goodies were photographed today that will hit the shop tomorrow night. Also, I re-listed a bunch of items on Friday night that hadn't sold over the past few weeks -so for those of you who have emailed, asking about these pieces, now's your chance!

SHOP, SHOP, SHOP!

AU REVOIR!

>> Thursday, July 9, 2009

In just a few short (but seemingly long) hours, I'll be taking off for a week long road trip with my girl, Dana. We'll be covering lots of ground, travelling from Tennessee to Florida and then through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and back to Tennessee. I plan on hitting up a ton of thrift/antique stores along the way and hope to come home with some seriously amazing vintage! I'm beyond ecstatic, as we'll be meeting up and travelling with my boyfriend, whom I haven't seen in 3 long weeks. I'll be bringing him home to Nashville for another month of pure bliss before I have to see him off again for his European tour come mid-August. This time apart has not been easy by any means, but we've remained super solid and strong the entire time, so knowing that I'll get to be by his side again in less than 48 hours has me more excited than I think I've ever been. I feel like Santa's coming and it's Christmas in July!

During this time, I will be checking emails on a regular basis, but I won't be shipping any items that are currently pending payment until my return on Friday, the 17th. If you have purchased an item and paid for it already, fret not - your package is on its way!

I hope to be able to post some pictures of our adventures while we're on the road. I'm armed with a laptop, a couple of cameras, a suitcase full of vintage dresses and my heart on my sleeve!

Tata for now!

SWIMSUITS!

On my thrifting adventures yesterday afternoon, I managed to pick up several seriously awesome swimsuits including one adorable 60's deadstock bikini, one absolutely darling 60's nautical style one-piece (isn't the inside tag just too cute?!) and 3 awesome 80's one-piece swimsuits - all pictured above. These bathing beauties will be making their way into the shop tonight, so keep a look out! Plus, all of them (except for the top of the bikini since it still has the original tag attached) have been handwashed prior to and after being photographed.

CROSS STITCH PATTERNS FROM TINY MODERNIST

>> Monday, July 6, 2009

Personally, I have absolutely no clue how to cross stitch - like knitting, it seems like one of those things that would just be too tedius for me and I'd end up getting frustrated and defeat myself before even getting the hang of it. The idea of cross stitching little Eames chairs almost makes me want to give it a shot, though! I've been a huge fan of Charles & Ray Eames for many years and even have a few Eames pieces in my own home, so naturally I think these are pretty incredible.

CHECK OUT TINY MODERNIST ON ETSY TO SEE MORE!

And for you mamas out there - they also carry the cutest lil' post modern printed toddler dresses!

>> Friday, July 3, 2009

Hey, boys! Vintage for the men's in store now! These threads used to belong to my super talented, bass boogie boyfriend. He's gonna be famous one of these days, so get yourself a piece of history while the gettin's good and the goods are cheap (as in inexpensive, not cheap quality.)

A GLIMPSE AT OUR TRIP

>> Thursday, July 2, 2009

Here's a little peek at the 3 state 5 day road trip that I mentioned last week. A ton of pictures were taken, but these are my favorites and I feel they are most fitting for this blog, as I am wearing my very favorite dress (I love it so much that I, in fact, wore it two days in a row and felt nothing short of fabulous the entire time). Also, I really wish that I could braid my hair like this everyday, but I've tried and fail miserably every time. Big ups to my girl, Mackenzie (the lovely lady pictured with me), for braiding my locks and THANK YOU Aqua Net for ensuring they didn't fall down even a smidge the entire time!
